Oreo Cookie Day

National Oreo Cookie Day has come and gone, but you can still make the copy cat version at home. 
Are you an oreo cookie fan? I fondly remember dunking them in milk as a kid. As a homeschool parent, I have found many unit studies using oreo cookies to create the moon phases - very creative!
One of the reasons I stepped fully into baking is to provide my family with delicious food, but fewer ingredients. Having a child that had egg allergies and still has nut allergies made me even more sensitive to food labels. What I love about making things at home, is that I get to choose the type of ingredient that goes into the food. I always look for the fewest ingredients as possible. My least favorite part of cooking at home is the dishes, lol. 
These chocolate sandwiches will not last as long as the store-bought version because there are no preservatives in them, but also because they taste amazing. 
They are a softer cookie than an actual oreo, as well. I made a little tweak from the Sally's Baking Addiction recipe, but I wanted share it with you here so that you too can make your own oreo cookies at home.
